10th Annual Budding Artist Show

The Newburyport Art Association presents The 10th Annual Budding Artist Show, April 4th –April 20th. This exhibit showcases the artistic endeavors of area Middle School and High School Artists. The variety of media, imaginative subjects, and ability of the students never ceases to amaze all who come to see this wonderful exhibit. It is a favorite of the art association’s members and patrons. An opening reception will be held for artists, families, friends and the general public, Sunday, April 13th, 3-5pm.
The juror this year is Jim Farrell, former of the Marblehead High School Art Department. Mr. Farrell taught art for 35 years and has served on the board of the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards for 11 years, judging student art work in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The Budding Artist Exhibit is a part of the Newburyport Art Association’s ArtLink Program, an art education outreach program designed to link the NAA’s resources with area schools, and is generously sponsored by The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation.
Juror’s Overall Comments:
“Judging a body of strong art work is always difficult, yet when one uses elements of art and the artist skill of media, picking the winning pieces becomes a little easier. As a judge, I also look for the artist’s unique way of looking at the world. It is important to see the world with your eyes but for the artist it is also important to “SEE” the world with your emotions, intellect and at times infuse a piece of art with one’s soul. For the true artist it is not an act of doing but becoming.”
