Juror's Overall Comments:
When evaluating the overall appearance of the exhibition, representational work certainly predominated. Many of the paintings were selected to hopefully present a well rounded expression of the art submitted. With this in mind, the strongest of the strong were chosen for awards. Because of space limitations, award funds available, etc. this juror would like to acknowledge paintings by Larmay, Lesk, Giles, Graffam and Lussier, just to name a few, that could not receive awards.
Finally, Id like to make one personal comment to those who did not get into the exhibition, or ones that could not receive an award. That comment addresses the competitive type environment we are dealing with. A perfectly good painting or sculpture can stand on it sown merit, but must say something unique or give a glimpse into the soul to overshadow a work next to it and command attention.
Thank you for the opportunity to see such fine work,
Trudy Allen
