The Newburyport Art Association presents The 2005 Annual Members Fall Juried Show from September 23rd to October 23rd.
The Juror for the show is Leonie Bradbury who is the Curator of Contemporary Art and currently serves as the Director of the Gallery and Visiting Artist Program at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. She has organized exhibitions for the Minneapolis Institute of the Arts, George Eastman House: International Museum of Photography and Film, and Monstserrat College of Art Galleries.
Originally from the Netherlands, she received a certificate in Archeology and Art History from the University of Amsterdam. After moving to the United States, Bradbury graduated with a BA in Art History from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and earned a MA in The History of Art from Boston University. Her specialty is 20th Century Art, Theory and Criticism.
There were 371 entries from 194 artists, 120 artworks were selected.
Ms. Bradbury''s overall comments:
"My main criteria of selection was the overall quality of the work and use of the medium's full potential. Also originality and creativity in choice of subject matter played a significant role in my decision making. I believe that all of the award winners' pieces transcend the media used to create them, which for me is the most important quality a work of art can possess." Leonie B.
