Artist’s statement: My art is spontaneous, intuitive, and always experimental.

Shiatsi - Ann Tucker
Pastel

As a portrait artist Ann Tucker enjoys the challenge of capturing the essence of a person, as well as a likeness. Her formal education includes studies at the American University of Beirut, University of Mexico, and Panamerican School of Art; receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in painting at Miami University of Ohio. Her work has been included in many exhibitions and her portraits hang in private collections throughout New England. She is a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists.

Ann's particular interests are in the effects of light on forms, and the expressive and economical use of line. She has always found the human form the most inspiring subject matter. The mediums she uses are pastel, charcoal, graphite, and oils. Commissioned portraits are done from life with photos used as reference, or just from photos if necessary.

She works from a studio in her home in Merrimac, MA where she lives with
her husband, Paul, and her sons, Jacob and Andrew.
