Audrey Bechler and Joyce Audy Zarins: "Art Themes", paintings and sculpture
Reception: Friday September 15, 7-9 pm

"...My goal in life is to be happy and I am happy, because I have done what I like to do. I believe art should be beautiful and express the joy of life. Art should enrich ones life..."

"...there will be a number of my traditional paintings, landscapes of Maine and a few still lifes as well as large abstracts and computer art, which will fit beautifully with the sculpture shapes. Sculpture is an art form that fits into home decor, and it should be included with two dimensional work.

Joyce and I are involved in a relationship with nature. It gives to us an energy that we transfer by osmosis to our work. If you look at nature it is all abstract and only takes form in each persons reality.
--Audry Bechler

Using steel, aluminum and other materials I explore the interaction between society and nature. I work with both natural and industrial materials and interior and outdoor spaces to explore that responsive edge, generating human-scaled sculptures and sculptural environments.

For the past three years I've participated in the Maudslay Outdoor Sculpture exhibit and had a piece included in the invitational Contemporary Outdoor Art 2000 exhibit at the Moses-Kent House Museum in Exeter, NH, which was up all summer. Recently I sold my first public art sculpture through the Massachusetts Cultural Council and am a past recipient of a New Hampshire State Council on the Arts grant for a three day environmental art installation at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH. I graduated from the Museum School in 1996 and my studio is in Amesbury.
