Treasures from Near and Far

Two area artists have teamed up to present a 2nd Annual Featured Artist Exhibit at the NAA from Thursday, Aug. 7th through Wed. Aug.13th. The show titled " Treasured From Near and Far", celebrates the artists' process of capturing beauty, color, and playfulness as they see it in their travel and personal worlds. Merry Beninato is a professional artist and teacher in North Andover. As the owner and director of "Arts for Everyone", she instructs over fifty people each week in drawing and painting; in addition, she offers workshops and demonstrations. Merry creates vibrant silk paintings in her studio and switches to oils when painting outdoor landscapes of local attractions. Beninato says " Creating an interesting composition using beautiful colors, brings a sense of peace and order to my soul and I hope to share this with everyone who views my art."

Leslie J. Dondero has been a self employed paint and wallpaper contractor for 15 years. Formerly from Bradford, she relocated to Plum Island eight years ago. As a self taught artist, she taps into an entirely new source of creativity, using wire, sea glass, shells and other finds from the ocean. An odd piece of glass brings visions of mermaids, sea creatures, or some whimsical 3-D sculpture. Leslie believes, "My creations have unique personalities. If you see them and they make you laugh, I've been successful"
