Ellen has been drawing and painting most of all her 43 years, but most seriously in the past 18 years during which time she has been recognized on the local art scene. Her work is held by many New England collectors. Recent commissions include a painting of the Wenham Canal for a member of the Board of Directors for Montserrat College. Ellen is known for turning up the volume on some colors, juxtaposing intense with neutral colors for delectable harmonies. She is a very direct painter who loves the sensual qualities of paint and seeks to record experiences immediately. Ellen's latest influences have been Hopper, Porter, Alice Neel, Wolf Kahn and Diebenkorn.
