| Born in South Wales and educated at Oxford University and the Sorbonne, Morgan Jones has spent much of his life in the United States. An engineer by training and profession, he painted as a hobby for many years, taking early retirement from Raytheon to devote full time to painting and writing. His recent work reflects a strong interest in texture, and is based on a variety of approaches to laying down and modifying the painted surface. The paintings on display will include landscapes, still lifes, abstract pieces and a few portraits (including one or two of politicians).
His paintings have been featured in juried shows of members' work at the Provincetown, Newburyport and Cape Cod Art Associations, and he has been invited to participate in the 2005 Biennale Internazionale Dell' Arte Contemporanea to be held in Florence. His work is in private collections in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Georgia and Canada.
