Western Ireland is a region of spectacular landscapes: scattered forests, lakes and rivers, vast peat bogs, limestone highlands, and windswept granite mountains. This sparsely populated, unspoiled area shows abundant evidence of its rich past in prehistoric sites, mysterious monastic ruins, and a countryside speckled with low stone walls. Peace and isolation, spectacular natural beauty, and breathtaking scenery characterize this land.
The black-and-white photographs in this exhibit are about light and shadow. As an abstraction of the real world, these images create a distinctive world of imagination - of luminosity and elegance - that provides the viewer with an exceptional aesthetic and emotional experience: a unique vision of that world, a "world of art and imagination."
