Diverse works by Karen Baker and Marjorie Recke will be displayed in the Laura Coombs Hills Gallery October 27 through November 2.
This is Karen's first Featured Artist show at the NAA. Her work has been shown in juried shows at the South Shore Art Center, Duxbury Art Association and at the NAA. Karen creates abstract collages based on themes of nature she has dyed, waxed, painted and gelatin printed. She enjoyes the free flowing aspect of working in collage and the moment when each piece takes on a life of its own.
This is Marjorie's third Featured Artist show at the NAA. In addition, her work has been shown at invitational shows, the Whistler House Museum, the South Shore Art Center and juried shows at the NAA. Her paintings reflect her love of nature, particularly along the coast. She works toward a realistic interpretation of the beauty of the natural world, painting primarily in oils and pastels. For experience and fun she will play in acrylics and watercolor.
