Julie Shaw Lutts announces the opening of “Looking Into a Small Universe,” an exhibition of new artwork, on Friday April 21, 7:00-9:00. The show will be on view April 20-26 at the Newburyport Art Association’s Hills Gallery at 65 Water Street in Newburyport; gallery hours are Monday-Saturday 11:00-5:00, Sunday 1:00-5:00.

Working with three-dimensional mixed media, Lutts creates miniature worlds within the confines of clock cases, picture frames, birdcages and antique drawers. Her visual microcosms of moments and themes are both beautiful and enchanting, suggesting stories historical and personal. Lutts combines photographs, natural elements and all manner of found objects to create beauty on an intimate scale that engages the viewer’s imagination. Many of Lutts’ works evoke the beauty of the exotic, channeled by objects and images saved from her travels around the globe.

Lutts regularly shows at Studio 412 in the 450 Harrison avenue building in the SoWa district in Boston MA, as well as at the Cambridge Art Association and the Marblehead Art Association. She has also exhibited at venues in New York City and Santa Fe.
