NAA Featured Artist Series
|

Ms. Crone is part of the Featured Artist Series at the Newburyport Art Association's Laura Coombs Hills Gallery to be held March 9th through the 15th. Marie will share her enduring passion for the media with a watercolor exhibition and sale. She has a fluid style and is fascinated by the elusive quality of watercolor; painting fleeting moments and atmospheric light. Her subjects have a variety of images, interesting places, florals, and figures.
 She attended The Philadelphia Museum School of Art, graduated from Syracuse University, with a BFA in painting and Illustration, and graduate studies in Synesthetic Education. She has also taken many workshops. Her work has been in juried and group shows throughout New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts and has been recognized with many awards; the most notable, The Pulsifer Award in the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors in Old Forge, new York . She was also Juried "Best Watercolor" by acclaimed critic, Clement Greenberg, in the Canastota Canal Museum Annual Art Exhibit in Canastota, New York.  She has been very active during her affiliations, as a Signature Member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, a member of The Central New York Watercolor Society, a founder and Co-chairperson of The Cazenovia Watercolor Society. She is currently a member of the Newburyport Art Association.  Besides concentrating on her own art, Ms. Crone has taught watercolor at the college level, to Senior citizens, as well as, substituting for Elementary, Middle School and High School Art Classes. She will continue to teach at Brooksby village in Peabody, Massachusetts, where she is a resident. Her show is a celebration of her years as a painter.
