WOMEN: PERSPECTIVE POWERS

Newburyport Massachusetts, October 12 - October 25, 2006. This is a unique and non-traditional exhibit featuring sculptural ceramics, acrylic paintings and digital art by New Hampshire artists, Lynda Elliott and Yildiz Grodowski.

Lynda Elliott, a life-long New Hampshire resident, is a fine art photographer, painter and digital artist, with an Associates Degree in Graphic Arts. She has received numerous awards, recently including three Nominee Awards from the International Black and White Spider Awards, honoring excellence in black and white photography. Publications include: Sharing The Past, published by The International Library of Photography, Famous Contemporary Artists, published by WOA Books and the Black and White Spider Awards 2006 Calendar.

“My creations are influenced by my moods, interests, experiences and imagination. Experience has taught me that beauty has a lot to do with attitude and perception. I feel privileged when I can recognize it, whether it's in front of me, or in my mind. I love getting lost in expressing what is already there, unseen or dreamed.” - Lynda Elliott

A native of Turkey, Yildiz Grodowski creates sculptural ceramics, working from her home studio in Salem New Hampshire. Yildiz holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Interior Architecture, from State Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul, Turkey. She also received a Certificate Degree in Ceramics from the New Hampshire Institute of Arts. She is a recipient of numerous awards. Her sculptures are sold both nationally and internationally.

"My surroundings nurture my work. And my pieces are predominently inspired by nature. I am further moved by human form, which is part of nature after all. I try to achieve an organic look and create my work by mostly handbuilding." - Yildiz Grodowski

Both artists are juried members of the League of New Hampshire Craftsman and the New Hampshire Art Association.

Colorful, diverse and "outside the box" are the themes for this exhibit, showcasing recent paintings, sculptural ceramics and digital art from both artists. Come and meet the artists! A public reception will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 PM on Friday, October 13. Refreshments will be served. The exhibition runs from October 12 to October 25, 2006 at the Laura Coombs Hills Gallery, located on 65 Water Street, Newburyport, Massachusetts. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
