Rosalie Sidoti Iacono
Artist Statement:

Painting… something almost mystical occurring; the fragrance in the air, the emergence of dappled light, the color of the sky, the surprising values of distant hills and the luminosity of nature enveloping the senses, begins the creation of  a “Visual Conversation.” Rosalie Sidoti Iacono, from Boxford, MA, is best described as an expressive realist painter.

She reflects on her personal artistic process as …”Being able to archive my observations and indulge my senses so freely is a souvenir I am able to take with me when the day is over. A bonus is having friends standing side by side with easels, paints, et al, and sharing in this non- verbal exchange with nature’s imagery. I’ve stepped back and looked; the blank canvas is filled.”

She studied for her undergraduate degree at The Massachusetts College of Art and the graduate level, at The Ruskin School of Fine Arts, Oxford University, exchange programs. Rosalie also taught the Visual Arts for many years.

Betsy Schulthess
Artist  Statement:
Art has always been who I am, but not what I’ve always been able to do.  Not until the last five years have I been able to devote more time to developing my skills by studying with several locally known artists.

While imagining a painting my objective is to share a part of my world that is so enjoyable and has so greatly influenced my life.  Each attempt into creating a picture is a new and exciting adventure.  Throughout this adventure I try to stretch my abilities in reflecting the bold and intricate details of the subject while artistically translating my emotional response to it.

Just as important as the creation, painting has rewarded me with new and wonderful friends. I am able to not only do something that that I’m very passionate about but share it with others who have the same passion. Standing along the edge of a magnificently colored marsh painting with a friend at your side who is experiencing the same emotion creates an unspoken conversation but understood between each other.
