The Newburyport Art Association is proud to present Imagined Landscapes, new work in acrylic by award winning artist Sara Demrow-Dent. The exhibition opens on Thursday April 3^rd and will run through April 16^th in the Laura Cooms Hills Gallery. Please join us and meet the artist at the Opening Reception Friday, April 4^th from 6-9pm.

Sara Demrow-Dent has been painting for over ten years and works out of her studio and home in West Newbury, MA. She received her BA from Syracuse University in Fine Arts and Film Making and completed her Masters Degree in Modern Art and the Art Market at the prestigious Christie’s Education in New York. She has shown her work in New York, California and Massachusetts and is included in collections internationally. She has won many awards through the Art Association including: Best of Acrylic 2007 Annual Fall Juried Show, Best of Show 2006 AFJS, and Best of Mixed Media 2004 AFJS.

“In my current series  Imagined Landscapes I continue to be inspired by shapes and hues in nature. I find the juxtaposition of colors in land and seascapes poetic and am exploring the combination of the realistic within the abstract. Many pieces in this series include detailed birds that come from my imagination, and are a combination of species without an exact counter part in life. I enjoy the pleasant friction that is created when the bird or icon seem to blend and at the same time float above the landscape. This push and pull is a direct translation of the poetry I am currently creating.  I have always been intrigued by the marriage of words and paint and include my own writing and/or journal entries that inspire an individual or group of paintings. I ultimately hope my work creates a an atmosphere of both contemplation and serenity.”
