Newburyport High School student James Nutter was inspired during a visit of his Creative Writing class to the NAA galleries last fall. The students assignment was to find a work that inspired them and write about it. To learn more about their students visit, click here
James chose NAA artist Susana Bamford's work Ipswich River Bridge...

The Creek
Nothing else exists,
All that does is here.
Here, where nature dominates,
Where the creek smoothly flows,
Where the leaves turn from green to orange and fall,
Uninterrupted,
Where the soft muddy bank joins the peaceful water in harmony,
Where the long slender oak limbs hang over the creek as if they were stretching,
Where the blue jay camps atop a rock,
Jerking its head side to side,
Unhindered
Here is where I love to be
Sitting along the railing of the bridge,
Feet dangling freely above the water,
Peering far down the creek,
Imagining how wide it winds and what lies far, far ahead
Now I’m here,
Soaking in the atmosphere
Silent
Brisk
Green and brown
Peaceful
Beautiful
Here is what I love
