Classes and Workshops

The Newburyport Art Association is dedicated to providing quality art education programs for all ages and levels across a wide range of media taught by professional artists and educators through lectures, workshops, art classes, and exhibitions.

Since the pandemic, the NAA has worked to provide a variety of in-person and online classes/workshops. This page will contain information on upcoming sessions - whether in-person or online. Additional notice, details, and insights sometimes appear in our weekly newsletter.

Wednesday Night Peter Kimmins Drawing Sessions

(6:30 - 8:30pm) $12 per session for NAA members / $15 per session for non-members

All sessions are facilitated by Claudia Mathews. Registration in advance is encouraged as capacity is limited. A variety of setups will be available, including easels, chairs, stools, and donkey benches. Artists should plan to bring their favorite materials to work with. The NAA will also try to have some basics available, such as sketch pads, artist pencils, erasers, and pastels. All sessions are held in the upper-level Hartson Gallery, accessible only by stairs.

Big Loose and Easy Watercolor Florals with Dustan Knight

Saturday, May 18th, 11:30am–3:30pm

$70 for NAA members / $80 non-members
10% discount for seniors (ages 65+)

A workshop perfect for all levels — beginner through advanced — participants will create joyful, colorful, and expressive watercolor florals. An experienced instructor and professional artist, Dustan Knight will go over the materials and demonstrate everything step-by-step before you give it a go. Each participant is engaged with on an individual basis throughout the workshop, ensuring a fun, creative, and informative session for watercolorists of all levels!
