Featured Artist | Bob Pecchia: Moments

  • Newburyport Art Association 65 Water Street Newburyport, MA 01950 USA (map)

Newburyport Art presents a Featured Artist solo exhibition — Moments — by NAA Artist Member and gifted photographer Bob Pecchia.

After retiring from a career in higher education, Bob’s passion for photography has continued to grow. He has used his educational and professional experiences in theater such as acting, directing, lighting, and set design to enhance his development as photographer. Bob says, “Over the past decade, I have been continuing to develop my photography skills, a never-ending process. In addition, I continually am reminded that the beauty that surrounds us can be obvious, but much of it must be uncovered slowly.”

His primary focus has been landscape, seascape and cityscape images. Bob believes it is not only the taking of photographs that is so intriguing and rewarding, but also the discoveries one makes in the process. Photography requires continuous searching; visiting and revisiting scenes, determining when the best lighting may occur, or when weather conditions may be optimal, or which seasons may be more suitable. He notes that while some situations may present themselves in a relatively timely fashion, it can take years to get that one image you were hoping to get.  Wildlife photography is something he never really considered to be a personal interest, but over the past few years it has become an extremely enjoyable part of what he does. He says that it can be a challenge to ones patience, but the exposure to this natural world is priceless.

His work is now in over forty states, and twenty countries, and has received numerous awards. He has done a wide range of commissioned pieces, and is a featured photography artist at the Maine Art Hill Gallery in Kennebunkport which last year was voted the top gallery in Maine in Downeast Magazine’s annual reader survey.

Come meet Bob at a public reception on Friday, July 14th from 5-7pm! Free and open to the public with light refreshments provided!
